Fishing

General Information

Fishing allows players to fish up a variety of different fish species as well as catch and defeat bosses. In addition to fishing, players can interact with the wilderness, finding a variety of different fishing area mobs, each area hosting different ecosystems to seek out and explore.

Complete quests to unlock the next area and defeat bosses to earn better fishing rods as well as other rewards.

Areas

Fishing is split up into different biomes and areas. The different areas consist of Fishing Valley, Sunny Meadows, Pine Peaks, Cozy Cabin, Tropical Grove, Sacred Pass, Scorched Oasis, Forbidden Temple, Snowy Summit, and Frostbit Lake. Each area allows players to catch different species of fish as well as different bosses, and each area hosts a variety of new animals to find as well.

Bosses

Different fishing areas offer the chance to catch unique bosses with various skills and rewards. Different fishing rods have different chances of catching bosses, so upgrading your rod will help you to catch more bosses, while the types of bosses caught is dependent entirely on the fishing area.

Different bosses can also be caught depending on if it is day or night, with night bosses only being caught at night.

Bosses cannot be caught outside of fishing areas/regions.

Area Mobs

Each fishing area has a different set of mobs which can be found in addition to fish species. Many of these mobs offer drops which can help new players along their way. Some are passive while others are hostile, so it is important to know your surroundings.

Fish Merchant

Fish Merchants can be found throughout the various fishing areas. By talking to a Fish Merchant, players can sell their caught fish as well as purchase various items in exchange for different fragments. Among these items in the Fish Merchant's shop are general items to help players with their Skyblock experience as well as new fishing rods.

Fragments

Different fishing areas will offer players different fragment types for slaying mobs, fish, and bosses. Fragments can be used to purchase items in their respective areas as well as upgrade players' fishing rods. The different types of fragments consist of the River Fragment (found in Fishing Valley and Sunny Meadows), the Evergreen Fragment (found in Pine Peaks and Cozy Cabin), the Spirit Fragment (found in Tropical Grove and Sacred Pass), the Amber Fragment (found in Scorched Oasis and Forbidden Temple), and the Glacial Fragment (found in Snowy Summit and Frostbit Lake).

Fishing Rods

Different fishing areas can offer players newer and better fishing rods as they progress. These fishing rods can be found in the Fish Merchant's shop. Each fishing rod will cost a number of fragments specific to that region in addition to the previous tier fishing rod. Because of this, fishing rods must be unlocked in order from tier, with each new region offering a better upgrade from the last.

Codex

The fishing codex displays a list of all the fish you've caught and have yet to catch. If a fish has not yet been discovered, it will appear in the fishing codex as a grayed outline. Once a fish has been discovered, it will be displayed in its full and vibrant texture. The fishing codex has different categories to browse, with each category pertaining to a different fishing area. Cycle through the areas at the top of the codex and hover over each fish to inspect your personal stats as well as global stats for that species. Stats shown in the codex include the amount of fish caught personally and globally caught as well as the best catch (in length) for that fish personally and globally caught.
